Introduction
Dear colleagues and friends,On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is our pleasure to invite you to the 'FEBS Advanced Lecture Course on Proteases in biological control and biotechnology', which will be held in Prestatyn, North Wales, on 8th - 12th September, 2017.
This 5-day course will provide the participants with a comprehensive overview of established and emerging topics in the fast growing field of proteases in biological control and biotechnology. The scientific programme covers a wide range of topics, from basic concepts, to recent breakthroughs, advanced techniques and clinical applications.
Young and more experienced scientists will benefit from a combination of tutorials, designed to introduce a specific topic, with lectures on the latest developments, all delivered by some of the best international experts of this scientific field. The scientific programme includes Poster and Short Talk sessions, where the participants can present and discuss their own work, as well as a 'Meet the Expert' session (over coffee, cheese and Port).
The very informal and comfortable atmosphere of the course will encourage a strong interaction between participants and the invited scientific leaders. The social programme, including beach sessions and half-day trips, and a participant versus speaker rate of 5:1 will further promote scientific networking.
We are very pleased to inform that a generous number of grants will be available upon application and selection. There will also be Best Short Talk and Best Poster Prizes, to be presented at the Farewell Dinner.
We are looking forward to welcome you to participate in this exciting course in Figueira da Foz, a lively town on the west coast of Portugal!
The members of the Advanced Lecture Course Organizing Committee.
